So today marks the beginning of my “Ubervegan” lifestyle. The idea was basically stolen from Tynan and his “MaxDiet” dietary lifestyle that he’s been practicing for about two years now, with little tweaks here and there. The moment I read Tynan’s MaxDiet articles every fiber in my body told me to try this dietary lifestyle along with him, thus here we are. Basically I will NEVER EVER EVER eat meat and dairy again! To all you meat lovers, this may sound like the tough part, but it’s not (far from it). What makes “Ubervegan” different from “Vegan” is that I also restrict myself from consuming:
- white flour,
- white rice,
- white potatoes,
- alcohol,
- and (probably the most drastic move) a little thing we call S U G A R.
Do you people know how many products in this world have artificially added sugar? Well, I did a little shopping today and found out that basically 99.9% of all foods have artificially added sugar. For example, I was all happy and thrilled (basically bouncing with glee) because I could still eat 100% Whole Grain bread, now picture my face when I discovered even bread has artificially added sugar. Tynan says in his articles that after reading The China Study he changed from a meat-consuming-sugar-addicted-uninformed-consumer to an overnight vegan just like that. The China Study (amazon affiliate link and an amazing thought provoking book) basically says that most vegan lifestyle are no better than say an all-meat-consuming lifestyle because instead of eating healthier foods, most vegans turn to white rice, white potatoes, white flour, and sugar instead of meat, which as you can guess is not an improvement in health at all. These items are bad for you because they are all preprocessed foods (picture someone chewing the food beforehand and then packaging it for you to later eat, pretty picture right). The good parts about all this are:
- I get to be part of the few people in the world who are actually practicing a healthy lifestyle.
- It’s shown that after two months on this diet I gain a new-found respect for food, and taste amazing flavors that I couldn’t beforehand.
- I thus, also start to hate foods that are bad for me (such as sugar) which makes this whole thing that much easier down the road.
- and it’s proven that this diet/lifestyle will add at LEAST 10 years to my lifespan.
I will keep a daily food journal and update you guys every Sunday on:
- What I consumed each day
- How I felt at the end of each day
- And recommendations I figured out on the way for those crazy few willing to try this diet.
Like anything worth doing, this is going to be really hard.
Wish me luck.
I’ll need it.
